Mygail and Daniel Marriage Memoir

by | Nov 28, 2021

This is the love story between Mygail and I, from the beginning of how we met to the day we got married. On an ordinary day in 2017, my long time friend and ex-classmate Joel decided to contact me through Facebook messenger. He asked if I wanted to go off-shore fishing. I was finishing university in Tasmania at the time. Knowing Joel was attached to Ting Ting who is a registered nurse, I asked Joel if he could introduce one of his wife’s friends to me as a passing remark. Never did I expect that Joel would’ve taken it seriously.

Soon after, I sent my first text to Mygail. My introduction was unorthodox, asking Mygail to ignore my message if she found me creepy. It went as follows:

“Hello 🙂 Sorry for being a bit random but I asked Joel to introduce me to you and he said it was okay for me to message you and that you were shy (so am I actually but I guess it’s a lot easier for me online). My name’s Daniel and I used to be his classmate. I’m currently studying architecture in Tasmania. I don’t usually message people this way and I really don’t know you at all so this is like pretty new to me too. If you find me a creep you can always block me haha”

Unexpectedly, my introduction worked. After a few months of texting, voice messaging and video calls, Mygail made a bold move to travel to Sydney to meet me. It was a blissful time together that led to a serious relationship, despite knowing we would be in a long distance relationship.

Mygail and I worked out that we would be able to travel on leave days to visit each other at least twice a year. Of course, that was until the pandemic hit.

By April 2020, most flights in and out of Australia were suspended due to COVID restrictions, and so were our travel plans. No longer being able to travel home to see my family and Mygail by the end of the year also made me question whether the future of our relationship was realistic. Mygail and I hatched a plan to pull us together by getting married.

So I made my move by leaving my job in Australia to come home and proceed with our marriage plans.

Pre-wedding shoot photo album by Artiz Studio.

The pre-wedding shoot at Artiz Studio went by without a hitch. They have a professional korean team of photographers and make-up artists, and the shoot was all done indoors, so the photoshoot was hyper-efficient and very relaxed. They also had plenty of clothing options for rent, and most of the photos came out great straight out of camera and did not require editing.

Our marriage at the Registry of Marriages also went by without a hitch. It was a cool and cloudy day that was perfect for photography, the livestream was flawless, and our friends and family all arrived on time and were super helpful.

In any case, Mygail and I are extremely grateful for having such supportive families and friends. Thank you all for joining us during our ROM livestream and for coming to this page. We look forward to beginning our new lives together.
