This state of the art day hospital accommodates two operating theatres along with two IVF labs and luxurious consultation and screening rooms. Located on Level 18 in Sydney’s No 1 landmark commercial building, ‘Gateway Tower’ at 1 Macquarie Place, Circular Quay. My role at Anthony Vavayis and Associates was to assist the director by performing all the tasks required at every stage of the project to ensure continuity and achieve the tight timeline required by the client. This includes directing fellow colleagues for various components including interiors. My team worked closely with the specialist consultants, as medical facilities have very detailed services requirements. Working within an existing commercial building with limited ceiling spaces required a considerable level of services co-ordination. Additionally, specialist medical equipment such as ceiling-mounted pendants and lights in the operating theatre, washers, sterilisers, and other medical equipment supplied by the client required careful co-ordination of services.
