Tavistock MRT Station (CR10)

Ang Mo Kio, Singapore

Tavistock MRT station is a $407 million project, which is part of LTA’s three-phased Cross-island Line (CRL) scheme designed to serve existing and future developments in the east, north-east and west of Singapore. Scott Brownrigg has been engaged to provide architectural design services under engineer Jacobs Singapore and contractor Sato Kogyo Singapore.

Scott Brownrigg’s “Park Connected” design concept links Tavistock Avenue Park on the east of the station to the Haus Linear Park on the west through a 300m long below-ground concourse and platform.  The 8-car train station will benefit students at the International French School, and existing residents and workers around the area.

Despite Scott Brownrigg’s extensive portfolio in infrastructure projects, Tavistock MRT is Scott Brownrigg’s first rail project in Singapore. The period in which I joined Scott Brownrigg’s Singapore team in February 2022 was therefore a period of interesting, yet critical transition. My expertise in Revit modelling and experience in design, together with the expertise from the Rail team at Scott Brownrigg’s main office in the UK, pulled the team through my tough first two months working in Scott Brownrigg mostly on this project.

During this time, I climbed a very steep learning curve of understanding many rail project requirements (including a completely seperate fire code), while being at the center of Revit modelling, developing the design and concepts, coordinating with the engineers, and chairing design meetings with the client.

I remain involved with the design process to help deliver the design concepts through the design reviews while I work on various other data center projects.
